Product Description

This club has a Hyphen or Dash face pattern and has the Maxwell style drilled holes in the hosel. This club is marked with the Sun of St Andrews Golf Co, and stamped Challenge Rustless, Warranted, Made in Scotland, Maxwell Model, Goose Neck Putter, also stamped is the St Andrew Golf Co Ltd. Research tells us that This company used the “Ogg-Mented” version of designing balanced sets of clubs which was invented by Willie Ogg. Denny Shute used St. Andrew clubs in winning the 1933 British Open. Other players used theses clubs in the 1930’s were Gene Sarazen and Johnny Farrell. Their “stag” mark was in use from 1910-1925, while the “sun” mark was first used in 1925. This Club is in good playable condition with its original Grip with Wax coated thread use for the whipping then finished with Shellac to protect it from any bag damage that may occur. Please note: All our Clubs have been fully restored by a professional restorer of Hickory Golf Clubs; it/they will arrive with a Tarnish Guard to protect it from the damp air which will allow it to rust, and should be replaced after cleaning.

We can always make up a set of clubs of your choice from our stock.
