Product Description
This club has a Hyphen or Dash face pattern and is maked SPORTSMAN’S EMPORIUM GLASGOW,Warranted, hand made, special and Iron, this club also has the Rose make of R.Condie. Research tells us that Robert Condie St Andrews was one of the better cleekmaker of St Andrews who had a reputation for hand made quality, having learned the trade from James Anderson of Anstruther. Condie travelled to the United States in the 1890’s to learn of the much talked about methods which the Americans were using for drop forging heads. He was very much impressed with mass production capabilities of the modern facilities, but his experience as a fine player and his knowledge of clubmaking prompted him to continue hand forging Iron heads. The firm was operated as R.CONDIE & Sons Ltd, after World War 1 and was eventually taken over by Robert’s son, George B. Condie. Some historians feel that MacGregor imitated Condie’s “Rose” mark. This Club is in good playable condition with the new Grip and Wax coated thread use for the whipping then finished with shellac to protect it from any bag damage that may occur. Please note: All our Clubs have been fully restored by a professional restorer of Hickory Golf Clubs; it/they will arrive with a Tarnish Guard to protect it from the damp air which will allow it to rust, and should be replaced after cleaning.
