This club has a Deep Dot punch regular pattern on the face, with the “diamond” of James & William Winton (London & Montrose), stamped on the back is Hand Forged, DREADNOUGHT, BERT BATLEY THORPE HALL G.C. SPECIAL 7 7. Research tells us that James & William Winton (London & Montrose) this family of clubmakers had several separate businesses which were later combined as Wm.Winton & Co. They produced a large volume of their “diamond” brand clubs from 1900 to 1939. For some unknown reason, all of the marks were stamped on the toe of there irons. This Club is in good playable condition with a new Grip and Wax coated thread use for the whipping then finished with Shellac to protect it from any bag damage that may occur. Please note: All our Clubs have been fully restored by a professional restorer of Hickory Golf Clubs; it/they may arrive with a Tarnish Guard to protect it from the damp air which will allow it to rust, and should be replaced after cleaning.
