|This wood is of an unknown maker. It has been re-stained in Light Rosewood, it is a socket Head and across the crown is wrote C.GIBSON&SON Makers Westward Ho, with a Fibre sole inserted below the half wrap round Brass sole plate which is held in place by 5 Steel Screws and lead back weight are all securely in position. The face lines have been re cut also, wrote on the shaft is C.GIBSON&SON Westward Ho selected. Research tells us that Charles Gibson was a fine player as well as clubmaker. He was the professional at the Royal North Devon Golf Club and had four sons who were also professionals at courses through the world. This Club is in good playable condition with the new Grip and Wax coated thread use for the whipping then finished with shellac to protect it from any bag damage that may occur. Please note: All our Clubs have been fully restored by a professional restorer of Hickory Golf Clubs; it/they will arrive with a Tarnish Guard to protect it from the damp air which will allow it to rust, and should be replaced after cleaning.
