This club has a smooth face and Square Hand Grip the sole of the club is ribbed in design, on the back of the blade is stamped RUSTLESS, IRON, Made in Scotland, Hand Forged, BEN SAYERS NORTH BERWICK and BENNY, PUTTER, REGIS-EPE. Research tells us that Bernard (Ben) Sayers Snr (1857-1924) was a famous player,instructor and clubmaker. He started out in the golf business as a gutty ballmaker in the 1880’s in Musselburgh before entering the clubmaking business in North Berwick. he was later joined by his son, Ben, who greatly increased the output of the firm, Ben is easily recognized in old photographs due to his short stature and magnificent mustache. His trade mark was a “Robin” 1920 onwards. This Club is in good playable condition with a new Grip and Wax coated thread use for the whipping then finished with Shellac to protect it from any bag damage that may occur. Please note: All our Clubs have been fully restored by a professional restorer of Hickory Golf Clubs; it/they may arrive with a Tarnish Guard to protect it from the damp air which will allow it to rust, and should be replaced after cleaning.
