This club is a vintage Scared Head Late Long Nose Putter and has a scored line face pattern finished in a light Brown stain, across the crown is the Makers name Anderson & Blyth, the sole has 2 small lead plugs and a Ram Horn insert to the leading edge held in with 3 wooden pegs, a Large back weight which is securely in position. Research tells us that James Anderson (grandson of “D”) went into partnership with D. Blyth as Anderson & Blyth, St. Andrews. James Anderson of Anstruther, Fife was a well known cleekmaker in the last third of the 19th century. He was not related to the Andersons of St Andrews with the same name: Jamie, the Open champion and jamie’s son, James. The diameter of his mark is 1/2 inch and should not be mistaken for the similar, but larger, one later used by his son, Alex. This Club is in good playable condition with the original Wrap around leather grip and Wax coated thread use for the whipping then finished with Shellac to protect it from any bag damage that may occur. The head is 4 1/2 inch long and 1 inch deep. Please note: All our Clubs have been fully restored by a professional restorer of Hickory Golf Clubs.
