For a while before the turn of the century, they made their own clubs with the help of young James Braid. James Anderson of Anstruther, Fife was a well known cleekmaker in the last third of the 19th century. He was not related to the Andersons of St Andrews with the same name: Jamie, the Open champion and jamie’s son, James. The diemeter of his mark is 1/2 inch and should not be mistaken for the similar, but larger, one later used by his son, Alex which is on this club. This Club is in good playable condition with a new Grip and Wax coated thread use for the whipping then finished with Acrylic to protect it from any bag damage that may occur. Please note: All our Clubs have been fully restored by a professional restorer of Hickory Golf Clubs; it/they will arrive with a Tarnish Guard to protect it from the damp air which will allow it to rust, and should be replaced after cleaning.
